Meet Our Prinicpal
Dr. Sara Amodio was born in Lincoln, Nebraska, but was raised in Overland Park, Kansas. She has lived in many places overseas and until four years ago lived in the metro Washington, D.C area. Moving to Colorado was a wonderful opportunity for her family. She is delighted to now be a resident of the Centennial State!
Sara started her career working for various international non-governmental organizations and as a clinical social worker. During one particularly life-changing pre-Canaan session, her Pastor suggested that she consider a career in Catholic education. Soon afterwards, she started teaching 8th grade and eventually became the school counselor at St. Ambrose Catholic School in Annandale, Virginia. Soon after moving to Colorado, Sara accepted a professorship at Regis University in the Master of Nonprofit Management Program to allow for the flexibility of looking after her young family while still focusing on Catholic education. Now that her children are a bit older, she is excited to be back in Catholic elementary schools where her heart truly lies.
Sara holds a BSW and a BA in Modern Languages from Kansas State University, a Master in Social Work (MSW) from Stockholm University in Sweden, a Diploma in International Studies from Stockholm University, and an Ed.D. in Educational Psychology from Regent University.
Her vision for St. John the Evangelist Catholic School is to provide a safe and inspiring environment that promotes Catholic identity and the formation of the whole child. She is honored and blessed to be part of the wonderful community of St. John the Evangelist.
Sara is married to her wonderfully supportive and loving husband, Tom. She has two daughters, Olivia and Isabella. A 90 lb. Airedale Terrier, two cats, and a parakeet are also residents in their lively home.
