Curriculum
The curriculum at St. John's School is comprised of: Religion, Math (including Algebra), Language Arts (Reading, English, Spelling, Handwriting), Science, Social Studies, Art, Music, P.E./Health, Library, and Technology. In addition, elective classes are available for middle school students. The curriculum provided by St. John's Catholic School is in full compliance with the standards of the Colorado Department of Education and the North Central Accreditation body as well as with the guidelines set forth by the Archdiocese of Denver.Standardized Tests
All students attending the Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Denver may take a standardized achievement test (currently the Iowa Test of Basic Skills). This testing program provides information regarding the educational progress of students, and assists in planning and evaluating curriculum.
Report Cards
Report Cards are sent home each quarter. If you have any questions about your child's progress, please make an appointment to see your child's teacher.Homework Assignments
St. John's School believes that children benefit from homework. You can help your children by arranging a quiet place for them to work and by encouraging them to complete assignments.Homework allows students to:
- Learn responsibility and independence.
- Explore independent study, complete research, and develop creative thinking.
- Review, enrich, and reinforce concepts taught at school.
- Involve their parents.
- Complete work not finished at school.
- Complete make-up work due to absence.
- Prepare and review for tests and assessments.

Special Education Services
The Thompson R2-J School District provides this assessment for our students. Please contact your child's teacher or the principal for more information regarding this service. As a result of resources, St. John's School may not be able to accommodate the needs of students requiring extensive special education services.Band
Students in grades 5 - 8 may participate in St. John's band. There is an initial meeting for parents interested in having a child join the band in the beginning of the school year. St. John's and Immanuel Lutheran have a combined band for beginners. Middle school students may select band as an elective class during the school day.School Library
The school library is available to all St. John School students. Most students are able to visit the library weekly. A part-time library aide staffs the library.Please read more about our Library services.
